FIRST EPISCOPAL VISIT
Saint Bede the Venerable welcomes
His Excellency Bishop Steven J. Lopes,
Bishop of The Personal Ordinariate
of the Chair of Saint Peter,
on his first episcopal visit!
Sunday, September 17th, 2017
5:00 PM Mass
Welcome to Saint Bede's at Holy Family
In order to meet the pastoral needs of the society, in the Fall of 2014, Monsignor Jeffrey N. Steenson, then the Ordinary of The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, met with Vaughn Treco, a convert to the Catholic Faith and former Anglican priest, expressing his desire to seek Pope Francis's approval for his ordination to the priesthood. His Holiness approved the request and granted the rescript permitting the ordination. On Sunday, May 3rd, 2015, Bishop Andrew Cozzens, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, ordained Vaughn Treco to the priesthood of Jesus Christ for The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. After his ordination, Fr. Vaughn Treco, was appointed as the chaplain for the society. He served in that capacity until December of 2015, when the society’s new status as a mission parish of the Ordinariate was affirmed by Monsignor Steenson. Fr. Vaughn Treco now serves as Saint Bede the Venerable's parish priest.
The Church of Saint Bede the Venerable seeks to bear faithful witness to the Gospel entrusted to the Apostles, and to do so as it maintains "the liturgical, spiritual and pastoral traditions of the Anglican Communion within the Catholic Church" (AC, III). It is "a precious gift nourishing the faith of the members of the Ordinariate and as a treasure to be shared" (AC, III). Through “Divine Worship: The Missal”, the Church of Saint Bede the Venerable shares in the Ordinariates’ distinctive mission of praising God in the eloquence of the Anglican liturgical patrimony and Prayer Book English.
All persons of good will are welcome to celebrate Divine Worship with us!
Participation in Sunday Divine Worship with the Church of Saint Bede the Venerable fulfills the Sunday obligation for all practicing Catholics. The ordinary rules apply.
