Welcome to
Church of Saint Bede the Venerable

Welcome to the Church of Saint Bede the Venerable! We are a mission parish of The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.

In 2009, Pope Benedict XVI promulgated the Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum Ceotibus to provide a means for Anglican communities to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church while retaining some of their Anglican tradition and liturgy. Constituted initially as a society, the Church of Saint Bede the Venerable was one of the first communities founded in answer to Pope Benedict XVI’s call. Our first celebration of Divine Worship was offered on Sunday, November 14, 2010, on the campus of Saint John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota.

On Sunday, May 3rd, 2015, Bishop Andrew Cozzens, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, ordained Vaughn Treco to the priesthood of Jesus Christ for The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. After his ordination, Fr. Vaughn Treco, was appointed as the chaplain for the society. He served in that capacity until December of 2015.

During an apostolic visit, Monsignor Jeffrey N. Steenson, the Ordinary Emeritus of The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, on Sunday, December 6th, 2015, confirmed the society’s new status as a mission parish of the Ordinariate. He affirmed that the society ought to be known, henceforth, as Church of Saint Bede the Venerable. Fr. Vaughn Treco now serves as it’s pastor.

The Church of Saint Bede the Venerable seeks to call men and women to a transforming encounter with Jesus Christ in and through worship. Through “Divine Worship: The Missal”, the Church of Saint Bede the Venerable shares in the Ordinariates’ distinctive commitment to praising God in the eloquence of the Anglican liturgical patrimony and Prayer Book English.
All persons of good will are welcome to celebrate Divine Worship with us!
